Getting Rough-CL Parker

4 stars

I received a copy of this book via NetGalley for an honest opinion.

We get to pick up where book 1 ended.  Shaw is traveling across the country to finally have the final words against Cassidy.  How dare her, give up what she fought so hard for, just to hand it over to Shaw as second place.  He is not having any of this.

I love Shaw and Cassidy’s relationship.  They are so much fun to see jab at each other one minute and be wrapped up in lust the next.  But when Shaw shows up in the little fishing town that Cassidy grew up in, she is not sure what to do with him.

As Shaw learns more about Cassidy’s life growing up, he beginnings to understand what has driven her to be such a hard ball player with the boys.  But also he will learn more about himself and the way he truly feels about Cassidy.

Cassidy must come to terms with part of her past that she never let go of when she left years ago.  She figured time would stand still for her back home.  But when she sees Casey, her ex, with another girl, it just hits home, all that she left behind.  But does she regret it or does she have something better waiting for back in the city?

I was glad to see Shaw put his feeling up front for Cassidy and fight for her.  Whether they both want to admit it, they are a match made in heaven.  I can’t wait to see what is in the future for Cassidy and Shaw.  I do believe that Author CL Parker, is on my favorite authors list.

I received a copy of this book via NetGalley for an honest opinion.

The first few pages were incredible, making me want to know more of Hunter.  Ex Seal who was now working for his best friends family business.  He sees Grace, he must meet her.  Of course he has a good chance of that as Grace’s best friend is Emma who is also Hunter’s best friend.  So I am looking forward to a new relationship between these two.

But then the story jumps to the future.  Hunter is no longer the sexy man that we saw in the beginning.  Also he gets his chance to meet Grace, but the way he does is just too much.  The way the author develops the story just did not flow for me.  I have a hard time connecting with the characters.  There were times in the story, I was just shaking my head wondering why I was reading it.  I think had the author be able to go along with a time line of when stuff happened, it may have flowed better.

I may have to give the author another try with book 1 in this series and hope that all the things that I didn’t like in this prequel will be resolved.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.  It was easy reading and had me laughing at times. I loved that Morgan was from Charleston, SC which is just a hop skip and jump from where I lived, I felt like I could relate to all her southern ways.  As for Cal and the other Pierce Brothers, they were each handsome and more than able to do things with their hands.

Morgan Raines, designer to the famous, woman who knows what she wants and will do whatever needs to be done to get it and does her job with a smile.  She was able to hang with the boys on the building site and not only bring some sunshine to the job site but yielded her own hammer.  She is not afraid to get dirty if that is what the job requires to make her clients dream homes come true.

Cal Pierce is the guy next door with the 2 dogs, great looking and a successful building business.  Or so he thought until his father puts a kink into things.  So not only will he have to show that he can turn a profit with his company but he will have to do so with the help of his 2 brothers, whom, left 5 years ago and never looked back.  Then add to that, the southern belle, Morgan, who is determined to make Cal’s life a living hell.

As Morgan and Cal come to an agreement on Pierce Brothers next building, there will be more than hammers and nails flying.  The attraction between the two of them is almost too much.  But they are professionals.  They will get this job done and nothing will happen between them.  Right?

Can Morgan bring the dream house to her Hollywood couple?  Or will they not be wowed by the Charleston Belle’s idea of what they want?  Can Cal work with his brothers to get Pierce Brothers back into the green?  Or will they fail, having to resolve the company and each start over, alone?  Will Morgan and Cal be able to keep their hands to the job at task?  Or will they wander onto each other?

I am looking forward to the next in this series.  I can only imagine the trouble that Author Jennifer Probst will have the Pierce Brothers into.

Inked Armor-Helena Hunting

5 stars

I do believe this was one of my favorite series to date.  I loved everything about it.  The romance, the drama, the secrets, the trust, the tattoos and the love.  I enjoyed the relationship between Tenley and Hayden.  They each had to learn to love themselves before they could truly love each other.

Tenley has to face her past before she can even think about a future with Hayden.  Leaving was the best thing she could do for both of them but she needs to face things back home.  Of course, Trey will continue to make things hard on her until he gets what he wants.

Tenley is gone, Hayden seems to be plagued with nightmares of his past.  The murder of his parents.  The past seems to continue to come around trying to remind him of where he belongs.  And Hayden’s nightmares have started to have Tenley in them.  He needs her like his next breathe.  But she refuses to answers his calls or texts.  He is going out of his mind.

Will Tenley wrap up her past to begin her future with Hayden?  Can Hayden get past the nightmares to see that his future is in front of him?  There are so many secrets and questions to be answered.

More Than A Feeling-Author Sara Richardson

3.5 stars

This book was won in a Goodreads Giveaway.

This was the first book that I have read by the author, third in the series and can be read as a standalone.  I enjoyed the characters, the story and the setting.
Ruby James has had a hard life.  She knows what it feels like to be down and when she has had enough, she plans her escape.  Although she is not sure where she is going, anywhere far away would be great.  She ends up in Aspen, Colorado.  She can be anyone she wants here.  But she has secrets that she plans to keep.  If only for her safety.  But after being here for a year, she starts to feel like she can breathe without fear.  She has no desire to want to be with another man but when police office, Sawyer Hawkins, shows an interest, things that Ruby thought she had hidden might find their way out.

Sawyer Hawkins, police office and over all handsome fella has a thing for Ruby.  He wants to know her better and plans to stop and nothing til he uncovers all her secrets.  He knows she is running from something but just not sure what it is.  He has been around women enough to know, she is attracted to him, but can he break down the walls that she has built around her and get to know the true Ruby James?

The story was not only about abuse in a relationship but the power to over your fear and live.  I thought the story flowed smoothly.  And once the truth is revealed, it will make you understand completely why Ruby keep her secrets.
I plan to read more from this author.  Plus I absolutely love the area that her stories are set in.

Clipped Wings-Helena Hunting

4.5 stars

After reading the prequel Cupcakes & Ink, I could not wait to dive into this book.  The story of Hayden and Tenley was just so powerful.  As we get to see more into what is holding each of them back from accepting that the need for each other is more than just physical attraction.  But that they need each other like their next breathe.
Hayden and Tenley both have secrets that they are keeping from each other.  But when the past comes knocking on their doors, they will both have to accept that the past has made them who they are.  They can’t change this.  They can only learn to go forward.  Once it is all laid out, will the truth of their true feeling for each other be enough to bring them together will it tear them apart forever?

The book ends on a cliffy so be ready to read more in Book 2, Inked Armour.  I look forward to see what Helena has in store for us in the next book plus additional stories about the other characters in the book who have played such an important role in shaping the story.
