This book was provided via NetGalley for an honest review.

I also won this book from a Goodreads Giveaway.

4 stars

This was my first book by Author Danielle Pearl and wont be the last. I enjoy her way of writing and telling of the story. I could connect with the characters and the story followed so easily that I was at the end of the book before I knew it.

In Ruins was such a touching story one filled with love, tragedy, secrets and forgiveness. It will have you laughing and then crying at the hurt that Carleigh and Tucker have been through, each in their own way but linked.

Carleigh can not wait for college. She will finally be free. Freedom is all she has dreamed about. But with that freedom comes a price. She will have to deal with the loss of the one person that she has loved for as long as she can remember, Tucker. He was once hers. Then he wasn't. But hey college is big, so they can just avoid each other and move on with their lives alone. Carleigh has to be strong and try to get over Tucker. But sometimes getting over the best thing in your life is harder than breathing.

Tucker Green knows loss. He lived with the loss of his father when he was younger. Now he has to deal with the loss of his love, Carleigh. Not only will he have to deal with seeing her everyday at college but will have to remember that she is a liar. She is not who she says she is. But sometimes your heart and body want something completely different than your mind. They were once friends before lovers so maybe they can just be friends.

As much as Carl and Tuck try to avoid each other at college, they are thrown together more and more. There is only one thing to do, try to be civil. Or maybe ignore each other and become stranger. But when your body knows someone like Carl and Tuck, it is hard to forget. Even with all the pain they have caused each other.

When it comes down to it, Carleigh and Tucker at meant for each other, they just need to learn to forgive and love unconditionally. Sometimes, the past has away of revealing the truth; shedding light on what one would think was the truth but was just a shadow of it. Can Carleigh and Tucker learn to let go? Learn to love each other again in their minds; like their hearts and body have been doing? Or will the past be even to end what small shred of love between them forever?

I think this story will stick with me for days to come even months. It was such a touching story of letting go of the one true love because you feel as thought you dont deserve to be happy. I look forward to reading more books by Author Danielle Pearl.
