Letters from Jayson by Author Amy Hale

Book provided via NetGalley for an honest review.

3 stars

This was a cute read for me. I enjoyed the story line. The characters were quirky and story followed quickly. I thought the notes that Jayson and Lindsay were funny and sweet.

Lindsay has been in a rut at her job. She is a writer yet her employer refuses to give her anything but fluff reporting even though she has spoken up with new ideas for the company. While not receiving credit for them. She has been over looked one too many times. She has had enough of the males getting all the good jobs. As she storms into her bosses office to explain this, she is given the chance of a lifetime to get an exclusive interview with author Jackson King. But she has to find the recluse man.

Jayson is just trying to get a deadline meet when he realizes that he is not alone in the beach house that should have been all his. What in the hell is he going to do with a woman here? Ask her to leave that is what. But when the beautiful lady explains that she is best friend's with his brother's fiance, she calls him Jay, he does nothing to tell her any different. Why not?

As the two of them continue to set ground rules on what can and can not happen in the house, Lindsay finds that she enjoys her banner with Jayson. Jayson as well seems to get distracted from his deadline with his thoughts consuming him of Lindsay. But Lindsay is here to work as is Jayson.

When Lindsay finds her in into meeting Jackson King, she is determined to get the interview and show her boss that she can do any job he sets her out to do. But when Jackson seems to keep evading a meeting, he is rather fond of his privacy, Lindsay starts to lose hope. She will have to go back to her job and hope for the best.

Jayson knows the truth about Jackson King. But will he be able to explain it all to Lindsay or will he continue to omit the truth? But after they both give into the attraction between each other, things seems to be better between the two of them or is it? Once morning comes, its a different story. Jayson is back to his old rude way; Lindsay has an author to find.

When things turn worse for Lindsay, she has no choice but to go back home without her interview. Jayson is not sure how he feels about her leaving. Once she is back home and figuring out how to make things work, thoughts of Jayson continue to plague her. She knows the truth about Jackson King. How could she have not realized? But she misses Jayson.

As letters seems to be Jayson and Lindsay's thing, when she spots some at her best friend's house, she knows what she must do. Can she win back a chance with Jayson with just a sheet of paper with her words? Or will he decide that he likes his life of solitude?

Review by Stacy Eastwood-The Backup (A Montgomery University Novel #1) By: Kathryn Renard

4 stars

I was given this book from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

If you love angsty college drama then this is the book for you!  Two young adults, in a college setting, both have issues with their parents...great reading material.  Runner Rarity is that backup...quarterback!  He is waiting and biding his time to let his star shine.  Josie, is new to Montgomery a freshman at the University but a celebrity in her own right...thanks to her Dad.  Runner and Josie meet, the chemistry is there the reader just waits to see if it is as combustible as it seems.  This is a quick read with lots of drama.  If you like new adult, college settings, and young love this is the book for you.

Layers Deep-Layers Trilogy Book 1 by Author Lacey Silks

Book provided via NetGalley for an honest review.

4 stars

This was my second book by author Lacey Silks. I can say now that I am a fan of her writing. I enjoyed the story, the flow of events and the characters. I would have done anything for Tristan Cross too.

This is book 1 in the series and let me say "CLIFFY".....wow!!! I am one clicking book 2, Layers Peeled as I am typing this review. I need more of Allie & Tristan not to mention Kendra & Julian.

Allie Green has been living with revenge running through her veins. She was unable to stop an incident from happening when she was just a girl but now as a grown woman and cop at that, she is just waiting for the time til she can act on this revenge. She will do anything to protect her mom from the monster that haunts her days and nights. But she needs the help of one man, Tristan Cross, to complete this.

Tristan Cross has it all. The looks, money, cars and a loving family along with the family business. He could not ask for anything else except to help a friend out. He will do just about anything to find her. But that will require the help of one sexy female cop. Tristan has his eyes on Allie Green. She is just the woman for the job or so he hopes.

As Tristan offers a job to Allie, she knows this is her chance to get revenge but the attraction between the two of them maybe too much for a working relationship. How will they be able to get the jobs done when they want to tear each others clothes off? Tristan needs to Allie to find Kendra. She is his last hope or Kendra could be lost forever.

Before accepting the job, Tristan and Allie give into their desire for each other. One night of passion maybe be enough for them. The way they react to each other is more than just physical. But can they learn to put that aside to get the job done? Or will love get in the way?

This was my first book by author Amanda Gray. The cover first drew me in then when I read the description of the book; I was intrigued. A girl who was able to see the past. A magical music box. A boy from the past that would do anything for the girl he loved.

Jenny Kramer knows she is different. She learned at a young age that she was able to see a person's past with just a touch. So she has learned to hide this gift or curse. Then with the loss of her mother at at young age, Jenny knows all to well what being alone feels like. Although her father has tried to be there for her, she still needs her mom.

Ben Daulton is the new boy in town. He is also a loner. When Jenny's father goes to Ben's house to see about doing renovations, Jenny is intrigued by the house. It is old but beautiful. As she explores the house and gets measurements for her father, she runs into Ben. He is not at all happy to see her in his room. But they will soon realize that they have something in common.

As Jenny and Ben try to understand what the past means and the music box, they will thrown into the unknown; will they able to understand? And what about the dark hair boy from Jenny's past that seems to have appeared in the present? Nikolia? What does he have to do with them?

When the three of them realize that they are all connected; will there be time to sort out the past before the present ends it all?

The Nanny with the Skull Tattoos by Author Elizabeth Barone

Book provided via NetGalley for an honest review.

1 star

This sounds liked it would a great book but once I started, I was unable to connect with the characters. It just did not work for me and I enjoy all kinds of books.

We meet a young dad Max, who is now out on his own with his 2 year old daughter, Chloe. He is trying to make it all work. He is in an undergrad program, working and raising his daughter alone. But he needs help. After taking an ad out looking for someone, he thinks he may have found the perfect person to help him with Chloe.

Savannah answers an ad for a nanny and falls in love with the little girl she is to be watching. She has her own issues but is a great provider and exactly what Max and Chloe need to make a life for themselves. As the attraction between Savannah and Max heats up, will they cross the line of boss and employee?

Their relationship never developed for me. I did not like Max or Savannah. The only spotlight in the whole story was cute Chloe. I guess the story just was not for me.

This was a cute short story of second chance love and how fate seems to play a part in our everyday lives. Andie and Jessie will realize that fate will step in and push you toward the right choice. You just have to take that first step.

Andie Fremont thought she was happy with her life until her boyfriend took the next step in their relationship and popped the question. What does Andie do? Throw up thats right. She does not give Brad answer but he knows they fit together. He offers her 24 hours to decide. Andie takes those 24 hours and runs. Runs to wherever the highway will take her. She ends up at this small roadside dinner that smells like heaven. Breakfast heaven. Bacon and waffles and coffee.

As Andie enters the diner, an elderly couple invites her to sit with them. They seem so in love. Andie wants that. As breakfast continues, the couple speaks of different things including the owner of the diner. He lost his wife several years ago and they are hoping Andie will get a chance to meet him.

The owner comes to make sure all is well with her breakfast and to her surprise, there stand Jesse Montgomery. It has been years since she say him. They shared one night together back in her college years. But time has been good to Jesse causing Andie's younger self want to come out and play.

Then the weather decides to take a turn for the worse. They are swept up into a major storm. As Jesse tells Andie where to hide to be safe, he runs to save the one thing he has left of his family. The sounds of the wind, rain and wreckage of all round Andie is left alone. She is worried about Jesse. What if he does not make it back or finds safety? What will happen to him?

When the storm is over, Andie makes her way out of the her hiding place to find Jessie is ok. But the diner and Jessie's home are no longer. They are all gone including Brad's car. Oh Brad is going to kill her. He loves that car.

As the present shows up to find Andie, Jessie realizes who Andie belongs to. He must walk away to allow her to have a good life with Brad. Watching Jessie walk away and seeing Brad there to take her home, Andie realizes that she was never truly happy with Brad. He does not truly understand her. He likes her for what she represents. They look good on paper but nothing else.

It seems that fate as more to do with life choice than we realize. Andie is exactly where she should be; with Jessie.

Branded-Book 1-Sinners Series by Author Abi Ketner

Book provided via NetGalley for an honest review

4 stars

Let me start by saying what an action packed book. My heart was pumping so hard at times. I was screaming in my head at the characters. The underlying story of finding love in the harshest of places was absolutely beautiful. There are still good guys out there among the bad. This story shows just that.

Lexi has been living a nightmare since the death of her father and her step father entered her life or so she thought. But that nightmare just turns to pure evil when she is accused of a crime she did not commit and sentenced to life in the Hole. The Hole is a place where all sinners are sent to live. It is not an easy place. And death is better than the life that most have there. But Lexi holds on to the words of wisdom from her father. She will get through this and find away to show that she is innocent. But then what?

As a new sinner is sent to be look after in the Hole, Cole, is determined to his job and keep her safe. She is his first female sinner. He is determined to not let her beauty sway him in anyway. But as they are stuck together living in close quarters, the warmth that radiated from Lexi has away of getting under anyone's skin. She is pure and innocent. No way she has committed the crime of Lust. But that is what her blue brand shows.

After getting into a route of living in the Hole, Lexi and Cole become friends then the unthinkable happens in such a dark place, love. The love that they each feels for each other is starting to show; no good can come of that. Sinners and Guards are not allowed to have a relationship. It only ends in death. But Lexi and Cole are willing to sacrifice themselves so that they can have a feel moments of love.

Lexi will learn the truth about where her brother has been and why he left her to live in the nightmare of a house with their step father and mother. She will have to learn to understand why things happen and learn to forgive; along with being stronger than she ever could be.

As the war within the Hole begins to come to a head, Lexi will have to face her demons head on. Will she be able to make it out alive? Or will death come to her in the dark Hole? Can Cole and Lexi make it out alive to enjoy a peaceful life?

I an thrilled to start book 2, Hunted. The way the author was able to tell such a riveting story can only get better as this series continues.
